We had a leisure day yesterday, waking up lazily as if it was a weekend. We settled on donuts for breakfast, there’s this new(ish) donut shop close to my work place we’ve been meaning to try again.

I got a box of donuts from there on my way from work a couple of months ago in a bout of spontaneity.
I’ve talked about not really being ‘donut people’ before, but the unique and aromatic flavours were a pleasant and luscious surprise.
They conveniently offer baked, vegan and gluten-free varieties too!

I promised I’d go back for another box on a special day, and yesterday felt special enough.

From the West End towards the Downtown East Side, we walked thirty minutes each way and the donuts were still warm when we got home.
Then I remembered another thing I liked these donuts; they’re pretty… so pretty, I just want to stare at them. They’re fragrant too, especially the earl grey one with rose petals.

I took a few photos while waiting for the kettle to whistle; and then made a huge pot of coffee.
We spent the rest of our morning lingering, drinking coffee and enjoying our freshly baked, tasty and tender treats.

I live for these usually simple and mundane moments that are unlike any other…
