When you live in one place for a long time, you eventually return to long-forgotten old haunts; reminisce and wonder why you don’t visit often.
I can’t recall the last time I went to that little place on Main where I discovered pan de sal.
Or True Confections, the quaint dessert cafe on Denman, it seems to be the only place that’s been around as long as I’ve lived here.
It’s only a few blocks from home, but I haven’t been there for so long it might as well be another town!
I’ve had fond late night conversations over tea and mouth-watering desserts there, but that was a long time ago.
We got True Confections gift-certificates over the holidays; it was a little like getting together with an old acquaintance, like old times.
I had tea and a slice of cheesecake to go, a dreamy thick yet delicate berry cheesecake served with luscious berry sauce.
Oh yeah, it’s just like old times!
