This year’s Canada Day was low key for me, I didn’t get out to the celebrations until late in the afternoon.
The weather was a bleak, cold and the sun wouldn’t come out – our only consolation, I guess was that it didn’t rain.
There were tons of people out and spirits were high; I imagine it’s left-over patriotism from the winter Olympics.
It felt a little like the Games all over again, people in patriotic clothes, waving flags and singing ‘O Canada’
The Canada Day parade was back again this year, albeit a little shorter than last year.
I think the parade worked much better shorter, floats moved swiftly and there weren’t many lags.
The Canadian Navy is also celebrating its 100th year, this was a special Canada Day for them.
This is the Canada Day’s t-shirt I picked up at The Bay yesterday, I like it so much I got an extra one (different colour) for next year.
…I wish I could be this planned with the more important things in life.
The new convention centre was opened to the public, we walked the massive beautiful halls and enjoyed the views of the North Shore.
There were about five different stages at Canada Place with various local music and dance acts. And of course… food!
The modified Olympic cauldron now (without the fences) underneath a reflecting pool was relit for Canada Day!
I didn’t hang around for the fireworks this year, I needed to get some rest for my early start tomorrow.
