Ever since ‘the world’ became proactive about the plastic-bag pollution situation, I’ve seem to have amassed a wealth of reusable shopping bags.
I fear this is also the case in other households; we’re altogether slowly building a fortune in re-usable shopping bags.
Seriously, there’s even a bag to organize your reusable bags!
I’ve had to make space in my home to house them.
I wonder if it’ll eventually become a problem.
It’s getting a little ridiculous and I’m not even sure how I came to own so many of the darn things.
I got this from Yokoyaya in Chinatown
Some I bought, I got most for free, some came with certain purchases, some seem to have appeared from nowhere, and some came insulated!
I got this foldable reusable bag while on vacation three years ago
And then there’s the one I got because I was born on a Thursday…
It was Earth Day (might’ve been Earth Week) and a Thursday, the store was giving out shopping bags to those born on Thursday.
I thought this was fitting because in my culture Mother Earth’s day is Thursday.
I got this Whole Foods jute bag in London last year
I always have one of those foldable ones in my handbag.
It’s very convenient and comes in handy, otherwise I’d be the woman who forgets her (one of million) reusable bags at home and ends up getting a plastic bag.
During lunchtime I’ll just throw my wallet and phone in my foldable reusable bag and run quick errands.
I don’t remember when I got this, but I have several of them from TJ’s.
I’m very mindful these days about bringing more of these bags home.
I’ve given a couple of mine away, and generally refuse those store promotions where you get a free bag when you buy a certain amount of stuff.
One that I love and use quite often is the FEED 100 bag. I hardly go anywhere without it.
It folds flat into its base, and is quite spacious and washable; it’s carried everything from clothes to groceries home.
The is one that I bought because it was for a good cause.
This Saturday is Earth Hour (there’s also Earth Day/Week coming up next month), I usually just turn the power off for an hour – which seem like much in the grand scheme of things.
Maybe this year while the lights are off I’ll think of reasons to love and alternative uses for my reusable bags.
