Thanks to Christ I get yet another holiday!
Technically today’s my Friday and I should be glad; I feel a little tingly but I’m not all there yet because my day doesn’t end until after 9:30PM. I’m debating ditching my last obligation – it’ll be so easy to just not show up except I’d be crippled with debilitating guilt for the next couple of days, it’s just not worth it.
Isn’t it something that Easter here already? It’s like we weren’t looking and it sneaked up on us.
Easter isn’t one of my favourite holidays, my childhood memories of Easter are very different from what I see now; there were no fluffy bunnies, chocolate or pastel coloured eggs or baskets.
We attended a lot of church services with harrowing sermons.
The concept of Easter scared me a little as a child; one minute he was a baby in the manger, come-to-save-us-all and a few months later he’s being nailed to a cross. It was all very confusing.
There were no presents, wise men or stars! Instead there’s blood and thorns and angry mobs and damning declarations.
After my grandmother death when I was seven, I became morbidly fascinated with His ‘resurrection’
I wondered what she’d have to show to convince us she’d indeed ‘Risen’
