Rainy Days

Fri 8 Apr - 4 Fri 8 Apr - 7

Remember that post I wrote about how winter was finally over and it was beginning to feel like summer?
(scroll down, it’s only two entries below).
Well, that was a bit premature, I spoke too soon…
What we experienced was just a break in this perpetually grey and rainy world we seem to be stuck in.

I guess I should resign myself to the fact that it’s going to be a while before the sun comes out to stay.

Turn The Dark Clouds Inside Out

I want to try optimism this month.
It was suggested that I start each day by pulling back the curtains, looking unto the skies and allowing a wave of gratitude to wash over me; gratitude for another day and the greatness it holds.
This morning I looked outside towards the skies and all I saw was gloom, rain and dark angry clouds.
The morning felt like an evening foreshadowing an ominous night.
I thought of a quote I’d seen recently, the writer describing his despair said he felt like he lived in the set of ‘The Killing
This analogy felt accurate this morning, except I really do live on the set of ‘The Killing’
The US version is shot here! Vancouver plays Seattle on the show.
Here are a few shots that could complement the show…

I want to try optimism this month…
I heard someone play ‘Keep The Home Fires Burning’ last night, I hadn’t heard it in ages, but it’s stuck in my head – I hummed it all day
It’s one of those weird songs I learnt from my father, you probably don’t know this song, unless you were around during the First World War in Britain. Neither was my dad… but he was a war buff.
It was still stuck my head this morning when I pulled back the curtains, and at that moment this wartime song seemed fitting.
Especially the last lines, which I naturally changed;

Turn the dark clouds inside out
Till the sun comes out

The Sea

Open

And by noon, it looked as if the sun was trying to peek through.
It’s going to be a sunny day after all!
I want to try optimism this month…

The Solstice

Summer is officially here, but there’s nothing summer-ry about today.
I’m sitting at work on a summer day and I’m actually cold, which isn’t cool.

Fri 19 Mar - 8 Fri 19 Mar - 5

I never know what to wear anymore and it’s a little frustrating.
I can’t seem to find a balance in my outfits; I’m either hot or cold.
Apparently I should be dressing for fall.

Fri 19 Mar - 6 Fri 19 Mar - 4

And then there’re Mondays…
I try not to loathe Mondays by pretending it’s Friday – but that doesn’t always work.
Sometimes Mondays are just Mondays…like today.

But wait… there’s always a consolation, so here it goes – – at least it’s not raining!
I’m going to go and and pout now.

Rain Rants Bring Sunny Days

Rain Stone

It looks like whenever I complain about the rain, the sun comes out the next day.
So here we go… let’s try for two days in a row.

Fri 12 Mar - 10  Fri 12 Mar - 6
Have I mentioned how miserable it gets when it rains all the time?

Fri 12 Mar - 5  Fri 12 Mar - 9
I really hate it when it rains for weeks on end.

Fri 12 Mar - 3  Fri 12 Mar - 1

I don’t want to wear these rain boots again for a long time.

Last Days of Winter

We had balmy weather today; for the first time in a long time I didn’t need a jacket.

I think I may have broken a sweat on my way home.

Fri 12 Feb - 1 Fri 12 Feb - 3

These pictures are actually from months ago… during the Olympics, when it was relatively cold.

As we had to bundle up as such.

Fri 12 Feb - 4 Fri 12 Feb - 2

My goal initially was to wear something red or Canadiana for every day of the games -

It was fun at first but I soon found it a dull and laborious task.

Fri 12 Feb - 5 Fri 12 Feb - 6

The start of warm reminds me that it’s time for a spring cleaning… packing away warm weather clothes and bringing out light airy dresses.

I’m going to miss this comfy warm sweater dress, it’s from Joe Fresh Style, the turtleneck is from Romy, the cable-knit tights are Roots and the boots are Volatile Mechanic.

I wore this outfit to go cheer on the Olympic Flame in Gastown.

Fruits, nuts, tuna salad...

Other things I miss today; bento lunches, I used to make beautiful food.
