The Last Nice Day

I’m working on a theory that I would be a much more creative person in a place with more sunshine.
We all know about sunshine and happiness; well, I think the link between sunshine and creativity needs to be explored.

The sun shone today for the first time in I-can’t-remember-when, and I felt inspired.
Inspired to do things I’d put off only days ago when it was dark and rainy.
I wrote down a list; and immediately proceeded to work on it.

  1. 125 – I want to lose 10lbs
  2. Awesome – I want to be awesome and un-boring
  3. Move – I need to move
  4. Hero – I want new hero
  5. Saviour – I want to save someone

I thought about these things in days past only to brush them aside with excuses, yet today with the glow of the sun, it seemed so viable, that I could really work on these goals.

Sun 17 Oct - 3 Sun 17 Oct - 9

I work in a creative part of town, and from my window looking into other offices; I see artists painting, designers working away on their sketches and sewing machines, photographers in studios, and I feel slightly inadequate, except today I felt inspired.
I haven’t had this surge of energy in a while, the last time I felt this inspired I went to a design show
It was on a sunny day and the show was great motivation; until it rain the next day.

I spotted this chair at the show, it so cheerful it reminds me of the sun, maybe if I had one of those at home… it could replace my light therapy lamp.

A Scarf As A Vest

A circle scarf is one of those articles of clothing that you buy with perceived potential but end up wearing it around your neck a couple of times and that’s about it.

When I was in London last year, I got not one, but two large circle scarves because the lady who sold them to me convinced me it could be worn as a dress, a skirt, halter top, a vest, a blouse and more.

She showed me how to contour the scarf into these creations, I brought them home and I haven’t worn them once.

In the mean time I’ve forgotten all the ways the nice shop lady showed me to wear them.

I got a grey cable-knit circle scarf from Joe Fresh, but it never got cold enough to get much wear from it.

So the other day I was watching Lifetime’s Coco Chanel movie when I saw this;

Inspiration

A cable-knit circle scarf as a vest!

What a simple, doable yet brilliant idea!

Scarf as Vest Mon 25 Jan - 5

I tried it and I loved it.

Initially I thought it would be constricting, but it’s not.

It’s just like a vest, it stays put and it’s warm.

I wonder why we don’t wear looped scarves like this anymore.

I was watching Emma on PBS (Masterpiece Classic) and one of characters also wore a looped scarf as a vest, but this time it was a lighter and softer fabric.

An aside: Emma has some very beautiful costumes

…flowy gowns, gorgeous hats, trailing ribbons and the boots worn by Jonny Lee Miller’s Mr. Knightley was nice!

I’m inspired to wear ribbons as belts this summer.
