It’s Friday!

Technically it’s Wednesday but my weekend starts now.
Yay for Canada Day and extra long weekends!

Sat 20 Mar - 5 Sat 20 Mar - 4

I went to the mall during my lunch hour to pick up my Canada Day tee.
I haven’t been to the mall in a really long time; it was comforting to find nothing had changed.
It’s still as crowded and busy as the last time,
I don’t have anything planned for the long weekend, in hindsight, I should have planned a getaway but…  I kinda like being around for Canada Day because there’s always so much to do in the city.
I think I’m going to head down to the States on Friday for some retail therapy.

Sat 20 Mar - 8 Sat 20 Mar - 3

For the rest of my long weekend I think I’m just going to wing it, let spontaneity take control.
I’ve also decided I’m going to read one good book each month this summer, for July I’ll be reading Michael Ondaatje’s Divisadero.
These pictures were taken weeks ago in the lovely town of Lynden, WA (with its pretty farms and cemetery) after a very long day of running around down south.

Outfit Details: Jeans Skirt – The Gap, White Blouse – Mexx, Vest – Talula, Booties – Gino Ventori

I’ve had this jeans skirt for over a decade and never worn it, it’s a wonder I held on to it for as long as I did.
I guess I always assumed I was saving if for a special day,  that I’d wear it one day and it’ll be spectacular, except I held on to that thought for a decade.
And then one day, I decided to just wear it, and I did… and it was just another skirt.
It has a weird cut,  but it’s still just another skirt.
Maybe the skirt is a metaphor for those things in life we hold off doing, for whatever reason.
Sometimes it doesn’t feel the same after you’ve held off for too long.

Upgrades

I upgraded to WordPress 3.0 today; Mondays are best for such tedious tasks.
I’ve been holding off upgrading for a while now because the “automatic upgrade” doesn’t work for me, manual upgrades aren’t all that fun.
It wasn’t as painful as I had anticipated, except for some plugins that wouldn’t play nice.

I also change my theme, I loved my old theme but I didn’t like the way it looked on the iPad.
I like this new theme, it’s understated, clean and minimalist, with the header alternatively at the bottom of the page.

Edible Favours

Summer is wedding season, and here’s a genius idea for wedding favours.

Over here in the Pacific Northwest where everyone loves a good granola, you really can’t go wrong with that.

To celebrate their special day and union, A&J created a wedding cereal using their favourite ingredients.

And what a yummy cereal it was!

Play Ball

This World Cup has been exciting!
I’m not a football/soccer fan; I don’t even pretend to be.
I do however like the spirit of the game, and I love how friendly competition between nations brings people together.
Any sport that can get folks this passionate is worth the respect.

Fri 11 Jun - 9 Fri 11 Jun - 4

And thank God for live blogging eh?, I enjoy that better than watching the actual game – it’s actually gripping.
Ghana plays the US tomorrow; big surprise… I will not be watching the game.
I’ll be on a long hike in the morning but I’ll be wearing my Ghana t-shirt and sending out positive vibes towards the Black Stars.

Fri 11 Jun - 11 Fri 11 Jun - 5

My brother Joe, who’s the real football fan went out and bought everyone these t-shirts.
The shirt is made from 100% African Cotton. I think the tag also said it’s Fair Trade cotton, but don’t quote me on that.
It’s soft, lightweight, has a nice stretch and fits quite nicely.
Joe has been wearing his shirt for the past two weeks; I’m pretty sure he sleeps in it too.

Fri 11 Jun - 1 Fri 11 Jun - 7
Outfit Details: Ghana Football Association tee – Puma, Jeans – The Gap, Boots – Liz Claiborne, Belt – DKNY, Apple watch necklace – MBMJ

Joe is passionate about football and Ghana, so he’s doubly passionate right now.
I try to stay out of his way for the most part, he hasn’t shaved in a while and he looks like he needs a hug.
He’s a little frustrated with the Ghanaian team but like every true fan has complete faith in them for tomorrow.
My brother Joe is a great guy,  and I hope Ghana makes him happy tomorrow.
