The One Year Anniversary

Today marked my one year anniversary at work. It’s interesting the difference a year makes.
Time does eventually put situations into perspective.
I started with uncertainty and a little bit of unease; I was leaving a very secure (but unsatisfying) position for a job that I wasn’t a hundred percent sure of. On paper, it seemed the perfect job for a bleeding heart like me while in reality it’s better suited for the trust fund kind.
On my first day, I remember mumbling “what have I done?” repeatedly to myself.
A year on I’m still a little uncertain but it’s probably the wisest decision I’ve ever made.
I enjoy what I do, I’m making a difference (albeit small) in people’s life and I’ve learned to dial down the cynicism a little.

Pics from my weekend run IV

I think my age is catching up with me – I can’t seem to function on just four hours of sleep anymore.

I couldn’t bring myself to go running on Saturday morning (again!); I was tired and disoriented from lack of sleep.

After a good sleep, I woke up Sunday morning feeling much better.

It was an energizing, fresh bright sunny day, befitting a New Year.

And here we go…

A walk in the afternoon

For the first time in I can’t remember when I ventured out during my lunch hour.

Through snow storms, wind storms, and dark gloomy days I just didn’t miss going out during lunch anymore, I stayed in more, and when the weather got a little better, I couldn’t be bothered.

I had errands to run today so I dragged myself out. It’s dry and overcast; feels like the rains will be returning soon, it’s a little balmy.

Being outside felt a tad strange yet comforting, I haven’t been to the mall in over a month; there was a time when I’d come to the mall everyday. It felt so unhealthy I imagined I could never break the habit.

I ran my errands and decided go take a look at the 2010 Olympics countdown clock and decided to take some pictures.

In case you didn’t know, Vancouver won the bid to host the 2010 Winter Olympics and we began the official countdown on Monday the 12th.
